Overview

Discover Ethiopia’s rich heritage on this 14-day journey combining the ancient wonders of the Northern Historic Route with the vibrant cultures of the South Omo Valley. Explore UNESCO sites such as Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches, Gondar’s castles and Axum’s ancient stelae, then head south to meet the unique tribes of the Omo Valley. A perfect blend of history, culture and authentic local experiences.

DAY 01: Arrival of Addis Ababa and Sight seeing 

Arrival Addis Ababa and meet the Yama Ethiopia Tours representative. Then transfer your hotel.
Depending on your arrival time make sightseeing in Addis Ababa.

DAY 02: Fly to Bahir dar & Boat Trip on Lake Tana and Blue Nile Falls 

In the morning after breakfast make boat trip on Lake Tana to visit isolated monasteries. There is
good birding in the lush forest surrounding much of the lake. Then drive to the thundering Blue Nile
Falls. Along the walk to the falls, birding is excellent.

DAY 03: Driver to Gonder and Sightseeing of Gonder 

In the morning drive to Gondar. Then city tour of Gondar including a visit to the Royal Compound,
where enchanting 17th century castles stand. Also, visit DebreBerhan Selassie Church meaning
Trinity at the Mount of Light.

DAY 04: Driver to Gonder and Sightseeing of Gonder

In the morning drive to Gondar. Then city tour of Gondar including a visit to the Royal Compound,
where enchanting 17th century castles stand. Also, visit Debre Berhan Selassie Church meaning
Trinity at the Mount of Light.

DAY 05: Day excursion to Simien Mountains National Park

Morning after breakfast drive to the jagged panorama of the Simien Mountains National Park, famed
for its exclusive landscape, afro-alpine vegetation and unique wildlife, where you may spot the
endemic Wallia Ibex, Gelada Baboon troops, Bushbuck, Klipspringer. Then drive back to Gonder.

DAY 06: Fly to Axum and Sightseeing

Morning after breakfast transfer to airport to Axum.Explores the city of Axum to Visit the interesting
museum in stelae field, the impressive Stelae Fields and also the grounds of the 16th-century
Cathedral of St. Mary of Zion, home of the original Ark of the Covenant.

DAY 07: Fly to Labella and Visit Lalibela rock-hewn church 

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Lalibela, famous for its rock-hewn churches
dating back 800 years. This is the most important stop on the historical route and from the air the 11
churches, carved into the rugged mountainside, present an awesome spectacle. Afternoon
excursion to the most spectacular churches.

DAY 08: Fly Back to Addis and drive to Awassa 

Morning after breakfast transfer to airport for flight back to Addis and transfer to Awassa to the rift
valley lakes region.

DAY 09: Drive to Arbaminch via Dorze village 
After breakfast visit Awassa Fish market and drive to Arbaminch through Chencha village to visit
Dorze people.
DAY 10: Boat trip on Lake Chamo & drive to Jinka
Morning after breakfast make boat trip on Lake Chamo to see the largest crocodiles in Africa which
measure up to 7 Mts. Then drive to Jinka.

DAY 11: Excursion to Mursi Village then drive to Turmi 

Early morning excursion to the Mursitribes village which are well known Omo peoples. Then proceed
driving to Turmi.

DAY 12: Excursion to Omorate 

Excursion to Omorate to visit the Dasenach tribes across the Omo river by wooden local boat then
come back to Turmi in the afternoon to visit the nearby hammer tribe village, also possibility to see
special occasion ceremonies like wedding and ritual.

DAY 13: Drive back to Arbaminch 
Morning after breakfast drive to Arbaminch, on the way visit Konso tribe village.

DAY 14: Drive back to Addis Ababa and Departure 

After breakfast drive back to Addis and on the way visit Tiya and Melka kunture archeological site.
Evening fare well dinner and transfer to airport for fly back home.
