Day 2: Explore Addis Ababa
Full day to explore the capital city. Visit historical and cultural attractions, including museums, churches, and local markets to learn about Ethiopian history, people, and culture.

Day 3: Fly to Bahir Dar – Blue Nile Falls
Morning flight to Bahir Dar. Afternoon visit to the stunning Blue Nile Falls, locally known as Tiss Isat (“Water that Smokes”). Overnight in Bahir Dar.
Day 4: Lake Tana Boat Trip & Monasteries
Morning boat cruise on Lake Tana, visiting ancient monasteries with medieval frescoes and illuminated manuscripts. Afternoon free to enjoy the scenic lakeside views.

Day 5: Drive to Gondar – Castles & Churches
Drive to Gondar, the “Camelot of Africa.” Explore the Royal Enclosure, Fasiladas’ Castle, and Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its ceiling murals.

Day 6: Excursion to Simien Mountains National Park
Morning drive towards Simien Mountains. Trek and enjoy panoramic views, spotting Gelada baboons, Walia ibex, and other endemic wildlife. Overnight in Simien Mountains lodge.
Day 7: Drive to Axum via Tekeze Gorge
Drive through the dramatic Tekeze River Gorge, arriving in Axum, the cradle of Ethiopian civilization.

Day 8: Explore Axum – Ancient Heritage
Full day exploring Axum’s archaeological treasures: Stelae Park, St. Mary of Zion Cathedral, King Kaleb’s tomb, and Queen of Sheba’s palace ruins. Overnight in Axum.
Day 9: Axum – Hawzen via Debre Damo Monastery
Drive to Hawzen, visiting the 6th-century Debre Damo Monastery (men-only, accessed by rope climb). Experience Ethiopia’s unique monastic traditions. Overnight in Hawzen.
Day 10: Rock-Hewn Churches of Tigray
Explore the Geralta Tigray rock churches, including Abune Yemata Guh (challenging climb with spectacular cliff-top views) and Mariam Korkor. Overnight in Mekelle.
Day 11: Mekelle – Lalibela via Yimrehanne Kristos
Drive to Lalibela, stopping to visit Yimrehanne Kristos Church, a late-Axumite rock-hewn church set in a cave.

Day 12: Lalibela – Rock-Hewn Churches
Full day exploring Lalibela’s 11 iconic churches, including Bet Medhane Alem, Bet Maryam, and Bet Giyorgis (St. George’s Church), considered a marvel of architecture. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day 13: Lalibela – Additional Church Visits
Visit Asheten and Geneta Mariam Churches, discovering lesser-known but beautiful rock-hewn sites. Evening traditional coffee ceremony. Overnight in Lalibela.
Day 14: Fly to Addis Ababa
